First XI Match Report- Chaddertonians 2-1 Saints

The Firsts travelled to table toppers Chaddertonians in a cagey affair.

The Saints started bright and caused problems, missed a few huge chances inside the oppositions area to go 1-0 up.

Chadds grew into the game, and thanks to B. Johnson the scoreline stayed level at the half with a string of saves, including a point blank triple save.

Into the second half Chadds took the lead following another great save, that fell to the edge of the box where their forward lashed it home.

We responded well and attacked persistently, which finally paid off with some smart football finding S. Clayton with a fine finish.

As we searched for a winner, we were hit on the break, a saved shot hit off our defender, leaving the goal open for their forward to tap home.

The Saints searched for an equaliser which didn’t come, half chances missed and end product not quite there.

MOTM- B. Johnson, a monster performance in the sticks and getting plaudits from the opposition manager.
