Last Weekends Match Reports

First Team

A deflating day for the firsts. A regressive performance with a lack of passion and desire, allowing Belvo to outrun and out battle us. Big changes needed to turn the season around even at this early stage. A few bright sparks gave hope, with Bradbury a non stop threat with a goal and two assists, running until the final whistle. Also the two 16 year old 1st XI debutants, L. Burke and F. Barlow, did not hide once and took more responsibility in a tough game than a lot. Massive respect to them and their manager G. Mason who has developed them. Onto the next.

Dev Team

1-1 for the lads against AFC Wigan, keeping the unbeaten streak going. After a tough start where we struggled to find our rhythm the positives we took were that we still did everything we could to stay in the game. AFC Wigan went ahead in the first half, exploiting the space after a sloppy pass from our lads, running in behind and squaring across our backtracking defence to their ST who found the net. At half time we rallied each other up and went out to right the wrongs of the first half. We got a goal from a fantastic move, Raza playing a deft pass to Roman who with a touch out of his feet clinically arrowed the ball into the bottom corner. Outstanding saves from Rangeley earned us the opportunity to take more points from top deliveries from the lads, but it wasn’t to be this week. Take the point and move on to Old Blacks away.

A Team

Clements A team travelled to a Crompton team who had comfortably beaten us 3 times last season, we set up to defend and keep it tight with a 5-3-2 formation, this was working well until the 25th minute when they scored from a free kick to make it 1-0, we kept at it for the rest of the game, but were unable to find the equaliser, plenty of positives to take from the game, man of match Luke Grant

B Team

Old Mancs Forfeit.
